Sources
Every exam fact on this site and every practice question traces back to a primary source: the federal regulation itself or EPA's own Section 608 pages.
We copied the text of each source on October 23, 2026, so answers can be re-checked. eCFR text is the version current as of October 22, 2026. Our questions are original and were written from these sources only, not from commercial prep material. A separate review checked all 205 questions against their cited source.

Sources behind the practice questions
Not confirmed in a primary source
- Per-section grading on Universal. Appendix D gives 70% as the passing score for the Universal test but doesn't say in so many words that each 25-question group must be passed on its own. Many programs grade it that way, and so does our app. Confirm with your program.
- Which part of a recovery cylinder is yellow and which is gray, for stationary equipment. EPA's Section 608 outline says to know the yellow-and-gray code but doesn't describe it. The only federal text we found that does is the car A/C rule: "gray with a yellow top" (40 CFR 82 Subpart B, Appendix F, 6.3.1). The industry guideline for recovery cylinders, AHRI Guideline K, blocked our download, so we quote only the car A/C rule.
- Refrigerant PT values. We don't publish them until we have manufacturer data we're allowed to reproduce.
